ord Justice Cobb has been appointed as the new president of the family division. He will take on the role following Sir Andrew McFarlane’s retirement earlier this month.
Cobb, who was called to the bar in 1985 and took silk in 2003, started his judicial career as a recorder in 2004. He became a High Court judge, assigned to the Family Division, in 2013. He served as a family presiding judge in the north eastern circuit between 2015 and 2021 and was appointed to the Court of Appeal in June 2024, taking his place in 2025.
